Deledao's CEO, Shuang Ji, co-invented the proxy filtering technology that underpins nearly every web filter in schools today. He also saw its limits firsthand — legacy tools built in the 1990s were never designed for a world where the internet is the classroom. So he set out to build what should have come next.

How Deledao started

Back in 2017, a group of Silicon Valley veterans noticed their own kids growing up in a school environment that looked nothing like the one they remembered. Textbooks were being replaced by Chromebooks. Whiteboards were giving way to YouTube. Homework moved online, and so did every distraction that came with it.

Legacy web filters — built on 1990s technology — weren't built for this. They could only block wholesale: an entire site, an entire video, an entire platform, whether it was harmful or genuinely educational. Teachers were losing tools they needed. Students were still finding ways around the rules.

Shuang Ji and his colleagues set out to solve it differently. Instead of asking "what should we block," they asked "what can we actually see, instantly, and respond to in the moment." That question became Deledao.

We launched our first product — a real-time AI web filter — in 2019, and have since expanded into classroom management and student wellness, all built on the same idea: safety shouldn't mean shutting the internet off. It should mean understanding it in real time.

Today, Deledao supports schools across the United States, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia.
